"The Nonprofit Network 2011 Navigating to Success Fall Conference was a great conference.

The presenters were of a high caliber, were qualified to cover their topics and were
well prepared--this made the time and cost worthwhile.
Participating in these learning experiences is not only of help to the individual, but the sector as a whole."

The Power of Servant Communication

Quentin Schultze

Nonprofit organizations live on the quality of their internal and external communication with numerous constituencies. The principles of "servant communication" will recharge your organization and your life.

Taking Your Board to the Next Level Moving from choosing the napkin colors for your banquet to developing, implementing AND achieving a strategic vision.

David Near

Why do our Board meetings seem to last so long? What gets accomplish at our meetings anyway?  What strategic decisions do we really make? Why do we spend so much time talking about the day-to-day operational stuff? Why do we have such a hard time recruiting new Board members?
If you’ve frequently asked yourself these questions about your Board then your organization may be primed and ready to go to the next level of Board performance and oversight: To become a Policy Governance Board. Come find out what a Policy Governance Board is, why it’s becoming the preferred choice for thousands of nonprofits across the country, how it functions, and what it takes to move your Board in that direction.

Appropriate for board members and nonprofit professionals.

Planned Giving - A Vital Tool for Maximizing Your Long-Term Funding

Barry Maleck

Every charitable/non-profit organization has a vision, passion and mission. But, to achieve these, you need to have sources of funding. By becoming more aware of planned giving strategies, you’ll be better prepared to raise needed funds. You’ll know how to communicate the win/win benefits of planned gifts to your current supporters, as well as identify new and potential donors. You can be less reactive about funding and grow more proactive with future funding.

  • Learn how a donor can plan a gift through their will or trust that may allow them to make a much larger gift than simply giving during their lifetime?
  • Be aware of the benefits and simplicity of adding an amendment to a current will, called a codicil, to arrange for a gift upon death.
  • Discover how to help donors create an income stream, liquidate highly appreciated assets without paying capital gains or create or add to an endowment.
  • Become informed on how a charity can receive part of all of an IRA, a 401(k), or a life insurance policy?
  • Find out how financial, tax and legal professionals are an alley to assist you and your donors with carrying out charitable intentions to create a winning scenario for everyone.

Appropriate for all nonprofit professionals: board members, fund development professionals

and executive directors.

  • Who will make it happen?
  • How will you do it, events, appeals, grant writing?
  • What should you include in your fundraising plan to ensure success?

Succession Planning

Terry Horton

You’ve heard that you need a succession plan for your executive director, right? How do you go about creating one? This presentation will describe the two types of succession plans needed for the CEO/executive director position and who should be involved in creating those plans. It will also review the importance of planning for the succession of board leadership, how nonprofit lifecycles impact succession planning, and options for the executive transitions process. If you haven’t known how to broach the subject of the importance of succession planning, here’s your chance to get some information to take back to your board. You’ll feel more confident once you’ve had this thorough review of the basics of succession planning.

Managing PITA's in the Workplace

Lori Gordon

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you will benefit from the information provided in this helpful 90 minute workshop.
