Close a Nonprofit

Closing a nonprofit will be the most difficult decision a Board of Directors will ever make. Being able to see and react to the signs of a failing nonprofit and taking action to either correct the course or protect donor investments require  crucial conversations and difficult decisions.  Closing a nonprofit correctly and legally takes time. Board members have an obligation to protect community assets.

Important Resources

State of Michigan Dissolution Questionnaire - All Michigan nonprofit organizations must obtain a letter from the Attorney General in order to file a Certificate of Dissolution with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Corporations Division.
