Honoring Strong Women: A Personal Reflection on Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women throughout history. For me, this month is not just about looking back—it’s about celebrating the strong women who have shaped my life and the future we continue to build together.
I was raised by an incredibly strong mother; a woman whose determination and grace inspire me every day. She taught me resilience, the power of standing up for myself, and the importance of lifting others along the way. Because of her, I grew up believing that strength and kindness could and should, go hand in hand.
My mother made sure I knew that throughout history, women have had to fight for their rights—for the right to vote, to work, to receive an education, and to have a voice in society. Progress was not given; it was demanded by generations of women who refused to accept inequality. From the suffragists who fought tirelessly for the 19th Amendment to the activists who continue to push for gender equity today, every step forward has been earned through persistence and courage.
Throughout my career, I’ve been fortunate to work alongside brilliant, strong women—leaders, mentors, and colleagues who challenge the status quo and push for meaningful change. Whether in state government, nonprofit work, advocacy, or community building, I have seen firsthand the impact of women who refuse to settle for less and instead pave the way for progress. Their leadership has reinforced what I already knew: When women support one another, incredible things happen.
I am especially grateful for the incredible team of strong women I work with now and in my previous work over the last 10 years. Every day, I see their passion, dedication, and commitment to making a difference. They have inspired me, challenged me, and reminded me why this work matters. Together, we are building a future where women’s voices are heard, valued, and empowered.
My role as a mother of three boys is where my commitment to honoring women adds new meaning. Raising sons in today’s world means more than just teaching them to be kind and successful; it means instilling in them a deep respect for women—their strength, their leadership, their voices. I hope I’ve raised them to see and honor the women in their lives as equals, as leaders, and as the changemakers they are.
Women’s History Month is a reminder that the fight for equality is ongoing, and it requires all of us—men and women alike—to push forward. It’s a time to celebrate, advocate, and empower—to reflect on where we’ve been and to act for a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.
So, here’s to the strong women who raised us, the strong women we work with, and the strong women of the future. May we continue to support, uplift, and inspire one another -not just this month, but every day.
Happy Women’s History Month!
