Activating Levers of Power: Learn how to impact policies at your local, state, and federal level.

We all need to activate levers of power in public policy while adapting to the changing political landscape. The 2022 election brought 58 new faces to the state legislature. Any nonprofit can work to have their voice heard and advocate for the needs of the people they serve.  Are you ready to elevate your issues to the next level? 

Come to this multi-session 3-part workshop to gather with your peers for a
non-partisan deep dive learning opportunity. 

Session Content - This is the perfect opportunity if you:  

  • Want to stop reacting to the ups and downs of policy decisions and proactively influence decision makers?
  • Have wondered about how policies become law and how you can impact them?
  • Want to learn the role of power in public policy and how you can become a player?

A workshop for changemakers, you will learn the tools of effective advocacy and the importance of understanding the political process, including:

 1. Foundational competencies: Feb 10th
     > Civics
     > Budget Process
     > Power Mapping

2. Achieve success regardless of which party holds power.
       Part I - Feb 17th
       > Advocacy
       > Asset Mapping

       Part II - Feb 24th
       > Strategies and Tactics
       > Messaging

Designed for - anyone wishing to influence lawmakers. This will be primarily Michigan but will touch on federal and can go deeper
into processes once we review jurisdiction.

This online workshop will repeat in March and in May we'll be hosting an in-person event on developing a policy agenda.
